The Village movement has arrived in Portland but started in Boston in 2001. “A Village is a group of like-minded people in a geographic area who come together to help each other age affordably in their own homes.”
NE Portland will be the first in Oregon and will be up and running in November. Some of the available services will be help with yard work, minor home repairs and computer assistance. It’s a coordinated network of volunteer and reduced cost services that supports village members to “do as much for as little cost for as long as possible”.
To find out more you can attend a meeting on September 17th from 2:30pm – 4:00pm at the Hollywood Library (4040 NE Tillamook St.) or go to nevillagepdx.org.
